Evening all. It’s been a while since I’ve blabbed and all of you listened so I thought it was that time again.
First off I would like to thank all who helped the past few weeks with the 10 Ulduar progression runs. For those interested, in those runs we accomplished/did the following fights for the first time: FL+2 & +3, XT hard mode, Council+2, Hodir hard mode, Freya+2 (so we can do +1 obviously), General Vezax and Yoggy; and we got pretty close to Thorim hard mode and Freya+3 - both are doable but they would require some more tweaking of strats. Despite our "under the radar" style of running the guild & raiding, it's kind of ironic that for about a week we were been tied with Warpath as #1 server wide for 10 man progression and we were #1 on alliance for about two weeks (Sacellum just passed us).
While shooting for #1 or whatever rank you choose wasn’t (and never will be) the goal of progression runs in this guild, teaching people the fights is. For the past two weeks we’ve put an emphasis on 10 mans to allow people to see more of the fights in Ulduar and to spend time learning them. And from our experience the days we did do 25 Ulduar things went much smoother than they had in previous weeks. So I’d like for us to stay focused on 10 mans for another week or two to allow people to better learn the fights, and at the same time we’ll slowly ramp up the amount of 25 Ulduar raids we do each week.
As a GM and a Raid Leader I find myself struggling between being too mean or too nice. There needs to be lots of encouragement and understanding with errors but there also has to be a firm hand if people aren’t carrying their weight. Both extremes needs to exist and finding the right balance between them, in all honesty, just flat out sucks. I know I make mistakes in leading raids and the guild (few days ago I made a major faux pas in a raid when I talked about the progression runs), so if anyone has any suggestions or ideas of how I and the guild can do better please let us know.
As far as
Monday raiding goes, from the poll, you can see that there is a wide variety of things people would like to do. After looking at the poll results and talking to people, I think the best decision is to do them all. Meaning for the next 2-3 weeks we do 25 Naxx on Mondays to give everyone a chance to get the last bit of gear they need from Naxx (whether it’s an alt, a new member, or a Raider still trying to get that last item). Then leave Mondays open to doing 10 Man OS 3D, Malygos, 10 Naxx achievement or Heroic achievement runs – all of which people have expressed an interest in. We will of course make as many groups as is needed for everyone interested to attend; and if the event planned for that Monday doesn’t interest you, then you can have the night off so to say. I think this will benefit and please most, if not all, parties by allowing people to get gear, achievements, or another night to spend time with family or friends.
Once again I’d like to thank everyone helping out in your various capacities and for everyone’s willingness to help each other and the guild succeed. Let's keep up the good work as a guild and continue to move forward and have lots of fun together.
